One of those power metal revival bands from Western Europe Germany, to be exact is Metalium, whose fifth album, Demons of Insanity: Chapter Five, was recorded in and but sounds like it could have been recorded 20 or 25 years earlier. Lead singer Henning Basse, in fact, loves to hit the high notes in an overtly Rob Halford-ish fashion. No one will accuse Metalium of being the most original or groundbreaking group in the world, but the bandmembers are good at what they do -- and like the old-school power metallers who have influenced them, Metalium are as melodic as they are forceful.
For all their balls-to-the-wall aggression, the German headbangers are highly musical -- this album is not an exercise in brute force for the sake of brute force. Demons of Insanity: Chapter Five falls short of remarkable, but it's a likable, if less than distinctive, example of what the power metal revival scene has to offer in Western Europe.

The song prods along in the same brooding slow pace for the entire It may have sounded good if it were Iced Earth, but not Metalium.
Fast riffs and an excellent solo in the middle. Sounding very 80s, the mid-paced galloper has a great chorus and becomes one of the best songs on the CD. Originally written for www. The band seems to be repeating themselves a bit now, and unfortunately not maintaining the important aspects of their sound in the process.

Power Of Time, following the trend of all previous metalium albums, is the strongest single song on the album. Yadda yadda. Demons Of Insanity is the "Break the spell" of this album. Catchy and with a great chorus; good stuff. And it goes on. There really is no point going through the rest of the songs because, if like me you own all the previous albums, they will all be familiar to you.
I respect the fact that Metalium have tackled such a 'big' and 'real' issue with this album, full credit to em, but the songs are generally too samey.
Metalium's first album was the fastest selling metal album of If they are to build on this success, they're going to have to try something different in future. If you're interested in Metalium, you only really need one, or maybe two albums. This, and the first, are IMO tied for best.
