Long-running characters included Ava, a schemer whose adventures ranged from stuffing a pillow in her dress to simulate pregnancy to being kidnapped at Universal Studios to being menaced by her lover's identical twin, Gilbert. Another longtime favorite was Stacey Donovan portrayed by Lauren-Marie Taylor , the only continuously running original cast member , who was killed off via a poisoned powder puff in summer , and Gwyneth Alden, the long-suffering matriarch who never stopped loving her roguish ex Clay or her mentally disturbed children Trisha and Curtis.

In early , ABC Daytime planned to cancel the show, and asked new head writers James Harmon Brown and Barbara Esensten to find a way to salvage a few components of the series. The writers embarked upon the show's last big storyline, and what many considered one of the show's best storylines, the Corinth serial killer. Stacey, Clay, Curtis, Cabot, Isabelle, and Jeremy lost their lives, culminating in the revelation that an insane Gwyn had murdered most of her friends and family in a bid to "make their pain go away.

Many actors would become famous after the show ended its run. Wesley Addy and Augusta Dabney were soap veterans of many years standing they played Cabot and Isabelle Alden ; Bryan Cranston Douglas Donovan 1 became a standout for such various shows ranging from comedy Malcolm in the Middle and drama Breaking Bad. Soap Opera is the third concept album in the band's "theatrical period". It tells the story of a musician named Starmaker who changes places with an "ordinary man" named Norman to better understand life. He works 9 to 5 and then visits the pub for a few drinks before making his way home. Andrea greets him, and he tells her she is "making it all worthwhile".

By this point, Starmaker has lost his grip on reality; he doesn't know who he is anymore. In the end, he settles down with Andrea, accepting that he is now just "a face in the crowd".

The album concludes with the sentiment that, although rock stars may fade, their music lives on. The Starmaker is an exaggerated characterization of Ray Davies. After his death, Sarah was stricken with a brain aneurysm and was near death herself. Van and Bruce investigated and had found out that she had last married a man named Edouard Aleata John Aniston.

Van wrote her a letter, but it was intercepted by Meg's grown daughter, Caroline Aleata Deborah Courtney, Roxanne Gregory , who, like her half-brother, Ben, had been brutally unloved by her mother. Van, Bruce and Sarah welcomed the lonely Cal with open arms. Carrie was also a good friend of Cal Aleata and Betsy Crawford. However, even she had wised up after a time. Meg may have been evil, but Jeff was far worse than even she was! He had a total emotional breakdown and went into a sanitarium.

He ended up falling for Cal, and Meg, angered at that, used her money to keep him in his place. Rick, at least having the grace to be ashamed of what happened, confirmed what Meg had told her.

Cal was angered at both of them and drove off in a car. She crashed it and was injured. She would eventually forgive Ben and allow him to be in Suzanne's life. Ben, in a noble move, spared Arlene any of the blame of the crimes he pulled. David and Eileen Part 2, pencils by A. Zuniga; After returning from their honeymoon, Eileen and David have to go through two more weddings--one for each set of parents in their own religious tradition.

Another Point of View! If You Love Me, pencils by A. Zuniga; Eileen and David argue about spending their vacation in places where their families have always gone, and resolve the argument by deciding to go somewhere completely different.
